GleaningGleaning is going strong this summer thanks to our partnership with the Vermont Foodbank and the hard work of Theresa Snow. If you would like to visit Harlow Farm or other local farms to harvest extra produce to share with our low-income community members, contact Theresa tsnow@vtfoodbank.org. |
Elliot Street Market Basket Every Tuesday at the Elliot St. Cafe parking lot from 4-6pm. This season there are three farms participating and right now there are over 40 people signed up, with capacity for around 50. We offer half baskets for 1-2 people at $9/week and full baskets for 2+ people at $17/week. We ask that participants qualify for 3 squaresVT/Food Stamps and that they commit to the full season which started June 22nd and goes until September 28th. People are able to chose which vegetables they want, so most everyone goes away happy. Throughout the season we will have over 65 different vegetables from these 3 farms: SIT Farm, Amazing Planet Farm and Justice Center, and Hearts Bend Farm. Feel free to stop by and check it out! Contact us for volunteer opportunities too! fsp@postoilsolutions.com Click here for more info: http://postoilsolutions.org/MarketBasket.html

| Fund raising campaign for a full-time Brattleboro Farm to School coordinator! The Brattleboro Area Farm to School Program is soliciting funding for a full-time Farm-to School Coordinator starting in August, 2010. This person would serve the Green Street, Oak Grove and Academy Schools, Brattleboro Middle and High School. We are looking to create a competitive position which will attract an individual with the necessary skills and education to transform this fledgling program into a model farm to school program, and hopefully retain an individual for more than a year to maintain consistency and build the program. Community Conversations: In January of 2010, Post Oil began facilitated conversations framed around the question, "How do we work together to make our communities healthier and more sustainable?" The first conversation brought 50 people together to discuss topics such as food, transportation, housing, energy, resource sharing and more. We want support of interested groups and individuals in turning these ideas into action plans. It is our hope that, together, we can launch new initiatives that will help to make our communities stronger. Meetings are currently held at Elliot St. Cafe the second Wednesday of every month! |
